Labour is like training for a marathon. You prepare yourself mentally and physically by gaining knowledge, exercising, attending classes, and eating right.
During times of need, its good to know that some of the simplest things can be the most useful.
I drink smoothies regularly, almost daily. Throughout my pregnancy and during labour, they helped fuel me with some power packed nutrients. They are simple and quick; easy to digest so they give your digestion a break.
Here’s a delicious fruit smoothie that packs a punch. It is full of protein and fibre to keep you going through labour!
1 tbsp Quinoa Flour
2 tbsp Boiling Water
1/4 cup Milk
1/4 cup Plain Yogurt
1 cup Frozen Fruit
1 tbsp Protein Powder
1 Handful Spinach (optional)
1 tsp Vanilla
1 tbsp Honey (I like mine sweet, adjust accordingly)
Add quinoa flour and boiling water together in a small bowl and let sit for
2 mins while you grab the other ingredients. Let it sit, stir until a paste has formed.
Place the rest of the ingredients into a high-speed blender, add the quinoa paste last.
Blend until a smooth consistency and serve immediately. Enjoy!
